In 'Coil to Coil', sets of salvaged speakers are removed from their enclosures and arranged in towers, cone-to-cone and magnet-to-magnet. The wiring of one of these sets is inverted, transforming the objects from speakers into microphones. Stacking these modified ‘microphone’ speakers above those conventionally wired ‘speaker’ speakers created a sonic feedback system. Additionally, a system of electromagnetic feedback is also audible because, each modified speaker is also sensitive to the electromagnetic field created by the stacks. This electromagnetic field and feedback system is itself excited by the sonic system, creating a folded, doubled set of systems, each informing the other in a self-sustaining cycle.
